01 — National context
The National Strategy on Robotics
The National Strategy on Robotics aims to capitalise on the potential of robotic technology and help India emerge as a robotics hub, identifying manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare and national security as sectors of strategic importance.
The strategy proposes a policy framework for implementing robotics across sectors, with the aim of making India a global robotics leader by 2030 and identifying robotics as one of 27 sub-sectors that enhance India's integration into the global value chain.
Robotics literacy — the knowledge, skills and attitudes specific to robotics that a person is expected to demonstrate — shares common ground with STEM education and needs to be built in schools, years before it can show up in industry.
02 — The target
3,000 labs
Under the National Robotics Literacy Mission, NanoSkool is working towards 3,000 robotics, coding and automation labs in schools across India — STEAM-based learning, delivered as a full system rather than as equipment.
That number is a distribution and training challenge more than a product one. It is why partnership, teacher capacity and the national programmes matter as much as the curriculum itself.
